Density and properties of PVC board

The density of PVC sheets varies from 1.4 to 1.85. The smaller the density, the better the quality and plasticity. The density of PVC foam board varies from 0.4 to 0.7.



PVC board has outstanding waterproof performance, no waterproof layer, can resist wind and earthquake, and is very reliable in high-rise buildings and coastal areas. It has rich colors, novel personality, strong acid and alkali resistance, fire protection, heat insulation and other properties.





Properties of PVC board:



1. General performance PVC resin is a white or yellowish powder with a relative density of 1.35-1.45. The hardness of the product can be adjusted by adding plasticizer of PVC transparent board. The water absorption and air permeability of pure PVC are very low.



2. Mechanical properties PVC board has high hardness and mechanical properties. It increases with the increase of molecular weight, but decreases with the increase of temperature. Rigid polyvinyl chloride has good mechanical properties, and the elastic modulus can reach 1500-3000 MPa. The elasticity of soft PVC is 1.5-15 MPa, but the elongation at break is as high as 200% - 450%. PVC has average friction, with static friction coefficient of 0.4-0.5 and dynamic friction coefficient of 0.23.



3. Thermal performance The heat resistance of PVC is very poor. The decomposition starts at 140 ℃ and the melting temperature is 160 ℃. PVC has low linear expansion coefficient, flame retardant, and oxidation index above 45.



4. Electrical performance PVC is a polymer with good electrical performance, but its electrical insulation performance is inferior to that of polypropylene and polyethylene due to its large S property. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent, large volume resistivity and poor corona resistance are generally applicable to medium and low voltage low-frequency insulation materials.



5. Environmental performance PVC board can resist most inorganic acids, alkalis, salts and most organic solvents. It is applicable to anti-corrosion materials in pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
